On my first record, my music was heavily influenced by some of the music I was listening to personally a lot. At that time I was really into smooth jazz like Bony James, Kenny G, David Sanborn, etc. I also was influenced by artists like India Arie, Lauren Hill, and Kirk Franklin. 2. What are your musical influences now? I draw more of an influence musically now from mainstream popular music more so then music that I actually listen to personally. I'm not a fan of secular music, but I would have to say that my music (not lyrics or message) is influenced by artist like Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, or T.I.. Not because I condone or promote those artists in any way shape or form, but more so because those are the artist I'm in competition with to reach this generation with the gospel. 3. What is the best thing about performing for youth? Worst?
The best thing about performing for youth would be the energy that they have. They don't always have the inhibitions that older audiences have, and they're not afraid to enjoy themselves. The worst part about it is when energy and hype is all that their is. It's great to have fun, but if they only get the fun without the life changing message, then there is really no point. 4. Favorite place to tour other than Michigan? I would have to say Australia. It's a totally different vibe when you're over seas. People over there seems to have more appreciation for artists and concerts because they don't get it as often as people do here in the states. 5. The bible story you turn to most often for personal encouragement?
