New Beginnings Prison ministry

 

After experiencing first hand how inmates and their families were starving for the Word of God and to feel God’s love, the Shafer family knew there was a need that God’s word and love had to be shared within the walls of the state correctional facilities and county jails. In 2002 the Shafer family started New Beginnings Prison Ministry partnering with His Place Cathedral of Faith; which to this day still serves as the prison ministry’s home base.

The ministry began mailing Bible studies to three individual inmates that were being incarcerated at the time in the State of Michigan, and within a few months word of this new ministry had spread throughout different facilities within the state. God continued to open the doors that needed to be opened for his word to go forth and the ministry started branching out to different state correctional facilities. To date God has opened doors for New Beginnings Prison Ministry to share God’s word in the state correctional facilities and county jails in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, North Carolina, Louisiana, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Minnesota,  Idaho, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Virginia, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, Connecticut, Florida, Alabama and New Jersey affecting the lives of thousands of inmates across the United States. We thank God everyday for the doors that he continues to open in more states.

As the ministry continues to grow, we are always striving to find new ways to provide God’s word to those that are hungry for him. God has opened the doors that the ministry is now able to provide giant print Bibles to all those that wish to have one and since 2008 we have provided over 500 Bibles both English and Spanish to inmates and their families. In a year’s time over 10,000 Bible studies are sent out nationwide.

New Beginnings Prison Ministry’s mission is to sow God’s word and seeds of hope in the lives of inmates and their families showing that God’s love is available to everyone, that there is strength for their day to day life and that there is hope for the future. New Beginnings Prison Ministry’s hearts desire is that as God’s word is being read, that it will be applied to change the person’s life and for a true relationship to begin with their Heavenly Father.
